Computer Help #001:
The self-spawning MSN Messenger Virus
If any of you see a file called "John Kerry Super
Chicken" or something along those lines, do not
accept it, as it will become a virus that attempts to
load web pages, invert your mouse controls, spawn auto-send
windows that send it to your contacts and creates files
in your C:/ drive. For a start, don't accept any .exe
files unless you know exactlywhat they are,
and always virus-scan them.
To get rid of this virus: Go to the Start menu, then
click Run. Type 'msconfig' in and select OK - then when
the window comes up, select the Startup tab, and (this
is what I did) uncheck any 'msmsgs' and 'Isass' items
you may have. Then restart the computer as prompted (if
you don't get a prompt, restart anyway) and when the
computer has been restarted, you should be able to delete
the ms-dos shortcuts and "John Kerry Super Chicken" from
your C:/ drive and function on MSN Messenger normally. |
