In 2007, critics of SCPUK and barnoproductions were commenting on the lack of productive output from the groups on the Flash front. However, what they didn't know what that Barno had planned to collaborate with Spizer to film a short video of sketches and random clips. The first was filmed in Kingston-upon-Thames on Spizer's camcorder, and the by the end of Summer '07, the two had made the first series of 6 episodes each running at 9-10 mins . A 2007 2-part Christmas Special was also made. The first series starred guests including Beaton, Dan Wait (of SCPUK) and none other than rock group Bowling For Soup. Although not the traditional output of barnoproductions, Barno seemed happy to branch out and experiment, as was apparent from the moment he started out in Flash, and from the release of 'Mama I'm Pregnant'.
Here comes episode one, the start of the adventure. This episode sees the introduction of Gary Elizabeth, the 'strange man' that stalks Spicer's character and offers him stuff of varying utility.
Relying on the fact that Barno and Spicer didn't get bored in the making of episode 1, here is episode 2, with some guest filming by long-time legendary friend of barnoproductions, Beaton.
Considered by me personally as the best episode of the series, we see the legendary 'Postman Pat' scenes, Beaton getting rugby tackled and Barno wearing a dress.
Part 4, logically, followed Part 3, and along came more random antics and one of my favourite sketches involving an insurance salesman offering a customer a 'flashback' with his purchase.
Part 5 saw a special sketch recorded at Thorpe Park, with Gary Elizabeth still stalking Spizer's character on all the rides from the children's train ride to the water rapids.
The series finale. News 4 U reports on the 'Orange Man Crisis' with a little help from Barry Scrotumscratcher interviewing a swan, Barno gets torn away from his true love and is there a grisly end for Gary Elizabeth?
With
an introduction by the lead singer of Bowling For Soup, this BS episode got off to a flyer. Guess what Spicer does? Takes his shirt off? Well it's not hard to guess - it's almost a certainty!
The second half of the Christmas special. If you were expecting a lazily produced second part, stringing together footage from years ago, you were partly right, as some old college footage appears. However with another intriguing report from Barry S, the sale of 'mashback' and Barno randomly shouting out the chorus to Wizzard's 'I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday', this is an episode not to be missed.
